Job Opportunity: GI/Endo Tech
Location: Clinton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week (Monday-Friday), 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week)
On Call: 2-3 shifts on call every 6-week period, including holidays as needed
Job Description
- Work primarily in surgical services focused on gastrointestinal and endoscopy procedures.
- Responsibilities include inpatient scope and instrument cleaning and care, instrument processing, specimen labeling and handling (bronchoscopy specimens), and infection control.
- Procedures involved: Bronchoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy).
- Adherence to sterilization/disinfection protocols and Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures is required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician.
- Endoscopy Technician experience within the last year.
- Experience in an inpatient setting.
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid driver’s license if driving on behalf of the employer is an essential job function.
- Background check within 90 days of start, including criminal, education verification, and multiple state/county searches. Background checks must be updated every 3 years or after a 6-month gap in service.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), including multiple substances. New drug screen required if break in service exceeds 6 months.
- I9/E-Verify attestation required for all candidates.
- Physical exam within the last year confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Annual TB testing or chest X-ray and TB questionnaire; additional documentation required if history of positive TB.
- Immunization documentation required:
- Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years preferred.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer documentation.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer documentation.
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (September 23 – March 31).
Orientation and Training
- Orientation options available on specified dates prior to assignment start.
- Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) required before hire date.
- Annual safety manual acknowledgement required.
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start and every 3 years (minimum 80% score).
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person) required.
- Competency exams required within 3 years of start (minimum 80% score).
Additional Information
- Must comply with infection control and sterilization standards.
- On-call shifts and holiday coverage required as part of the assignment.
- Photo for badge must meet specific criteria (clear, centered, no glare, solid background).
