Description
Registered Nurse – Transplant (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Weekdays with occasional weekends and rotating holidays
Float Requirement: Must be willing to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Job Responsibilities
- Provide patient care within the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5
- Perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring
- Document care using the Epic electronic health record system
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing, including experience within the last year
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Transplant nursing experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Must review and sign facility dress code and hand hygiene policies
- Completion of fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Annual stroke education (BEFAST Stroke CE) required for nurses working in stroke-designated areas
- NIH Stroke Certification required for certain units, to be obtained within 1 year of start and renewed every 2 years
- Background checks include EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Fingerprinting results must be clear; all hits reviewed including dismissed charges with additional documentation if needed
- Candidates must be willing to complete fingerprinting at approved locations; out-of-state mail-in fingerprinting may delay start
- Drug testing and background checks are not required to be updated annually unless there is a break in employment over 30 days
- Candidates must be willing to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
Work Environment
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with telemetry monitoring
- Use of Epic electronic health record system
- Night shift with 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
Notes
- Candidates must be graduates of accredited nursing programs at time of graduation or currently accredited programs
- Physical exam and immunizations are not required for fully remote roles (this position is inpatient and patient-facing)
- COVID-19 vaccination is recommended but not required
- Flu vaccine decliners must wear masks during flu season
- Fit mask testing onsite available if needed during first week of assignment
