Cath Lab Tech Travel/Contract Job - Arlington, Virginia
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Call: 2-3 call shifts per week, including 1-2 call weekends every 6 weeks
- Daily Caseload: 25-30 cases
- Labs: 4 cath labs operating Monday through Friday, 7 AM - 5:30 PM
- Scrubs: Provided
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience with:
- Left Heart Catheterization (LHC)
- LHC PCI
- Right Heart Catheterization (RHC)
- Peripheral procedures
- IMPELLA device
- Balloon Pump
- Rotablader (Rota)
- Cardiac Cath Lab procedures: Balloon Angioplasty, PCI, Stents, Thrombectomy, Impella insertion
- EKG skills: Obtaining vitals, 12-lead EKG, rhythm interpretation, outpatient settings
- Electrophysiology procedure experience: Cardioversion
- General cath lab skills: Scrubbing, monitoring, EKG
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Must have either RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
- If ARRT certified, a valid state license is required (Virginia temporary license process accepted)

- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Vaccination Requirements
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31)
- Medical or religious flu vaccine exemptions allowed with proper documentation and approval
- Must comply with CMS guidelines for exemptions
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during work hours
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification
- Drug screen: Negative 11-panel drug test within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine metabolites, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, and others)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit mask test within last 12 months (specific mask brands accepted)
- TB test (QGold or Tspot) within 1 year of start, with annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required if working in certain units (not specifically required here but noted)
- Flu seasonal vaccination documentation or approved exemption required
Facility-Specific Requirements (Must Complete Prior to Start)
- Completion of facility traveler checklist
- Signing of various policies and acknowledgements including:
- Code of Ethics
- Confidentiality and Information Security Agreement
- Dress Code
- Infection control and hand hygiene manuals
- Parking forms and policies
- Mission and Vision Statement
- National Patient Safety Goals
- Notice of Privacy Practices
- Completion of online orientation and attestations
- Submission of a clear, passport-style photo for badge issuance
- Wearing both agency and facility badges at all times
- Vendor Access Request (VAR) form completion and facility background check through HireRight
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure (required for cath lab techs)

Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a Cath Lab Tech with strong experience in invasive cardiac procedures and cath lab technologies. Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with left heart catheterization PCI (LHC PCI)
- Experience with right heart catheterization (RHC)
- Experience with peripheral procedures
- Experience with IMPELLA insertion
- Experience with balloon pump
- Experience with rotablator
- Experience with cardioversion
