Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Travel Position
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (rotating weekends)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit and Work Environment
- Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 14 beds; also includes 20 Med/Surg beds
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 in ICU, 1:5 in Med/Surg
- Staffing: 1 Patient Care Assistant (PCA), 1 Unit Clerk (UC)
- Documentation System: Meditech (experience preferred)
- Floating: Required as needed per hospital floating policy
- Call Requirements: None
- Attendance: Candidates with attendance issues or frequent call-ins/no-shows will not be considered
- Procedures: Critical care procedures performed on unit
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas (temporary licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Skills: Experience with vasopressor management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Meditech electronic documentation system
Dress Code and Appearance Standards
- Scrubs: Navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket
- Nails: Clean and healthy
- Hair: Neat and clean, no extreme styles or colors
- Facial Hair: Beards, mustaches, and sideburns must be clean and neatly trimmed
- Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; uncovered body art addressed individually
- Piercings: Only ear piercings allowed; all other visible piercings prohibited

- The unit emphasizes a positive, caring attitude and teamwork
- The hospital has received a safety grade of “A” for patient protection and quality care
- Scheduling requires working every other weekend
- The unit is described as cohesive and supportive with modern equipment and technology
