Description
ICU Travel Nurse - Indiana
Job Details
- Location: Franklin, Indiana (near Indianapolis, approx. 30-minute drive)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Schedule: Self-scheduling with 6-week schedule posted in advance
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
- Holiday Requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday during contract
- Call Requirement: Generally placed on call if needed; no regular call outside this
- Floating: May float to Med/Surg or ER (ER only if experienced)
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Combined CCU and PCU (12 beds total: 6 CCU, 6 PCU)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:2 in CCU, 1:3-4 in PCU
- Nurse Aids: Available on unit
- Telemetry: Yes, with monitor techs; RNs read strips
- Respiratory Equipment: Ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, oximizer
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Sepsis, respiratory distress, overdose/ETOH withdrawal, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Charge Nurse: Present each shift; house supervisor nights and weekends
- Orientation: General facility orientation (1 day) plus 1-2 days unit-specific orientation
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience preferred
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Skills: Ability to titrate drips (e.g., Levophed, insulin, dopamine, heparin)
