Description
Registered Nurse – LDRP (Nights)
Location: Moses Lake, Washington
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours per Week: 36
Position Summary
- Responsible for both direct patient care and care management, including delegation, supervision, and evaluation of patient care outcomes.
- Functions as a caregiver for a group of patients, implementing the Nursing Process.
- May serve as Charge Nurse, managing patient assignments, admissions, discharges, transfers, staff coverage, and problem-solving.
- Requires sound judgment and decision-making in patient care situations.
Essential Functions
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status.
- Implement care plans consistently and skillfully according to policies and procedures.
- Identify and address patient and family learning needs through education.
- Document patient care accurately in electronic or paper medical records per regulatory standards.
- Delegate patient care activities appropriately and supervise assigned coworkers effectively.
- Organize and prioritize tasks using critical thinking skills.
- Adhere to safety protocols including infection control, equipment use, fire and disaster procedures, and safe body mechanics.
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance consistent with organizational standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in nursing practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) nursing.
- Recent LDRP nursing experience within the last year.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs and perform manual dexterity tasks for 8 to 12 hours per shift.
- Physical strength to perform CPR, lift/push/pull 60 to 300 pounds (with assistance), and perform continuous physical activity.
- Visual acuity sufficient for patient assessment and documentation.
- Emotional stability to manage high-stress situations and maintain effective working relationships.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction with healthcare team, patients, and families.
Work Environment
- Reports to Nursing Department Director, House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or other supervisory staff.
- Collaborates closely with patients, physicians, and other clinicians to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
Additional Information
- Up to 24 hours of on-call availability per month may be required at no additional cost during the assignment.
This position emphasizes both clinical nursing skills and leadership responsibilities within a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) setting during night shifts.
