Description

Registered Nurse – CVICU (Maryland, Largo)

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 – 19:30)
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours
  • Start Date: August 10, 2026
  • Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Patient Population / Diagnoses

  • Cardiac Surgery: CABG, valve procedures, combined CABG/valve
  • Coronary Artery Disease: STEMI, NSTEMI, Atrial Fibrillation with Rapid Ventricular Response, cardiogenic shock
  • Vascular: peripheral bypasses, endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR)
  • Thoracic: Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS)

Job Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Work Expectations

  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Floating required within the specialty, sister units, and lower acuity areas as needed

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • I-9 attestation and E-Verify compliance
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide and county searches, sex offender registry, OFAC, education verification, and Maryland State Exclusions List
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Fit test within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
  • TB screening: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year, or 2-step PPD as required; annual updates required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption for 2025-26 season
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
  • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
  • Verification of previous 5 years of work history (attestation accepted if necessary)
  • Photo for badge (passport-style with solid white/beige background)
  • Signed job description and confidentiality agreement prior to start
  • Completion of facility-specific forms including badge application and dress code review

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam (score ≥80%)
  • Age-specific competency exam (score ≥80%)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score ≥80%)
  • Color blindness testing
  • Other certifications as applicable per unit or specialty

Additional Notes

  • Floating may include sister units and lower acuity areas within the specialty
  • Epic Portfolio Training Test Out available for eligible candidates with recent Epic experience
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training may be required depending on unit assignment
