Description

Neuro ICU RN

Job Overview

  • Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Nights, 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
  • Hours: 36 per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Start requirements: EKG testing must be passed before start

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Neuro ICU (2 years of experience)
  • Neuro ICU experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

  • Ventilator management
  • IV starts
  • Neuro ICU care
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line care and management
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • CVA/acute stroke management
  • External ventricular drain care
  • ICP monitoring
  • Post-neurosurgery care
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Lumbar drain experience

Preferred Skills

  • Arterial line management

Unit Details

  • Stroke-focused neuro critical care unit
  • Typical patient ratio: 2:1, with possible flex to 3:1 during high census
  • Average daily census: 11–12
  • Floating is required
  • Every other weekend required
  • No call requirement
  • 24-hour orientation
  • Scrubs: navy blue and white

  • Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, including SAH
  • SDH
  • Craniotomies
  • Carotid stents and carotid endarterectomies
  • Aneurysm coiling/clipping
  • Seizures
  • Depth electrodes
  • Myasthenia gravis

Compliance Notes

  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Locals are accepted
  • Unit accepts 7 days max RTO for auto offer
