Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Belleville, Illinois
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet designated
Unit Beds: 31 staffed beds on unit, 222 total facility beds
Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM), 3 shifts per week
- Hours per week: 36 hours (3 x 12-hour shifts)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; 6 weekend shifts over 6 weeks
- On-call: Required
- Floating: May float within scope to other MS/Telemetry floors and nearby facilities
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days
- Specialty Focus: Surgical patients following the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol/order set
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrub Color: Navy blue

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Illinois fingerprinting required for assignments involving long-term care or rehab units
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
- Professional license primary source verification required
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene and fingernail policies, dress code policy, and regulatory compliance education (annual quiz)
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Employment application and professional references (two required, supervisors preferred)
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists (including oncology competency if applicable)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be willing to float to other MS/Telemetry units and nearby facilities within scope of practice
- No block scheduling available; weekend shifts are mandatory every other weekend
- Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for this travel contract
- Candidates must be able to comply with all background checks, immunizations, and facility policies prior to start
- This is a travel/contract position with biweekly start dates, typically starting 3-4 weeks after compliance completion
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with surgical and telemetry experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care environment and meeting specific scheduling and compliance requirements.
