Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg

Location

  • Grand Forks, North Dakota

Employment Type

  • Long Term Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • 36-hour night shift (NOC)
  • Weekends and holidays per unit rotation

Job Summary

Provide direct nursing care following established policies and protocols. Maintain skills appropriate to patient age groups served. Coordinate patient care within the interdisciplinary team and provide patient education to ensure safe discharge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily patient rounds ensuring quality customer service and addressing unmet needs.
  • Develop individualized care plans based on comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Assess patient condition and nursing needs; set goals and implement nursing actions accordingly.
  • Promptly assess and manage patient pain according to standard procedures.
  • Identify early warning signs of patient deterioration and respond appropriately, including emergency interventions.
  • Accurately report patient observations to the multidisciplinary team and complete incident reports each shift.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and significant others, providing education and counseling.
  • Initiate discharge planning and education early to optimize patient and family understanding.
  • Delegate nursing interventions safely within scope of practice and competence.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support department and organizational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • Three or more completed travel nursing assignments
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Information

  • No local radius restrictions; local travelers accepted without pay rate differences
  • Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center
