Certified Surgical First Assistant - Travel/Contract

Location: Middletown, Ohio
Specialty: Surgical Services
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Assist all surgical service lines including total joint procedures; willingness to scrub as needed.
• Collaborate directly with surgeons during operative procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Provide support to Registered Nurses, anesthesia staff, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in orientation and training of new team members.
• Engage in very complex surgical cases and performance improvement projects.
• Work under the direct supervision and license of the surgeon.
• Maintain continuing education and adhere to the mission, vision, and values of the employer.

Required Qualifications

• First Assist Technician (1 year of experience)
• First Assist Technician experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Diploma from a Surgical Assistant program

Certifications (as applicable)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA certification required for all clinical positions.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Required for RNs; not required for Surgical Assistants.
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI) are not applicable for this role.

Work Conditions

• Travel/contract position with potential for shift cancellations due to low census (with notice).
• Not eligible for employee incentives.
• Must comply with all facility-specific health and safety protocols.

Additional Notes

• Request for time off (RTO) must be submitted with initial application; no additions after offer.
• Fingerprinting not required for this role unless working in specific units (not applicable here).
• Candidate must complete all required documentation and clearances prior to start date.
