CVICU RN Travel/Contract Job
Job Overview
- Specialty: CVICU RN
- Location: Towson, Maryland
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Contract length: 16 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Hours per week: 36
- Schedule notes: Rotating 11:00 AM–11:00 PM shifts may be needed based on unit needs; block scheduling is not accommodated
- Weekend requirement: Every third weekend
- Holiday requirement: Required as scheduled
- Floating: Required to MSICU as needed
- On-call: 24–32 hours per rotating 6-week schedule
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- CVICU (2 years of experience)
- CVICU experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- CPI
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Preferred Qualifications
- NIH certification
- OCN certification
- TCNN certification
Unit Details
- Average daily census: 3–5
- Beds on unit: 6
- Patient ratio: 1:2
Common Patient Population
- Post-op cardiac surgery, including CABG, MVR, and AVR
- Cardiac surgery readmissions and ICU bounce-backs
- Structural heart cases, including TAVR and mitral clips
- Pre-op patients on the hospital intensivist list
- STEMI/NSTEMI
- Cardiogenic shock
- Inari procedure cases
Clinical/Unit Acuity
- First 6 hours post-op may involve:
- Multiple inotropic medications
- Hemodynamic instability
- Active management of cardiac output
- Extreme coagulopathy
- Open chest
- OHS/Impella
- ECMO
- CRRT
- IABP
Compliance Items
- Two supervisory references
