Description
Surgical Assistant
Job Overview
- Contract role
- 13 weeks
- 40 hours per week
- 8-hour day shift
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technician with 2 years of experience
- Surgical Technician experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS certification
- Surgical First Assistant experience
- Surgical Assistant certification from one of these bodies:
- National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
- American Board of Surgical Assistants
- National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants
Clinical Focus
- General and neuro surgery
- Orthopedic surgery
- General surgery cases
Key Skills and Case Experience
- Neuro/ENT procedures, including spine surgeries, cranial surgeries, and ENT cases
- Orthopedic procedures, including fractures, joint replacements, ortho spine, hand, foot/ankle, shoulder, and arthroscopy
- General procedures, including breast/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, oncology, genitourinary, gynecology, and robotic cases
Work Setting
- Operating room
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Cross-trained to general main OR specialty and urology center
- No floating to other hospitals or sites
Schedule and Call
- Day shift start times vary between 5:30 AM and 7:00 AM
- On-call response time: 30 minutes
- Call schedule spans 8 weeks and may change based on staffing needs
Orientation
- 1 to 1.5 weeks, depending on team and shift
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers require further approval and evaluation
- Surgical scrubs are provided
- Free parking is available
- Shuttle service is provided to and from the parking structure
- No call rooms are available
