Medical Surgical Float Nurse

Overview

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Location: Huntington, West Virginia

• Contract length: 20 weeks
• Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Hours per week: 36
• Setting: Short-term acute care, major teaching hospital, Level II trauma center
• Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
• Call: None
• Weekend requirement: Must meet full-time weekend requirement of 4 Saturdays and 4 Sundays per schedule cycle
• Schedule notes: No block schedule approval, though attempts may be made
• Time off: Standard and holiday time off may be requested, with approval at client discretion
• Local candidates: Not accepted; 50-mile radius rule
• Pending license: Not accepted
• First-timers: Accepted if they have Cerner experience

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 1 year of Registered Nurse experience
• Med Surg (1 year of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• Orthopedics experience
• Experience with Cerner
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• NRP certification required
• TNCC certification required
• NIHSS
• NURSYS verification required for RNs
• Strong orthopedic experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of specialty experience preferred
• Orthopedic experience preferred

• Cerner charting system used
• Free parking available for travelers
• Black scrubs required; surgery scrubs are provided if reporting to surgery
• Winter holiday coverage assignment runs until 1/4/2027
