PCU Nurse

Overview

• Location: Jefferson, North Carolina
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
• Schedule: Alternating 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next; Friday–Sunday schedule
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Call requirement: None
• Float requirement: Yes, to ED IVC Sitter
• Target ratio: 1:4
• Orientation: 24 hours, plus hospital orientation during week one

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Clinical Skills and Experience

• Cardiac telemetry / telemetry monitoring
• PCU / DOU / IMC / stepdown care
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Heparin protocols
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration
• Central, peripheral, and PICC line care
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Feeding tube care and management
• Continuous bladder irrigation
• Starting and maintaining IVs
• Care of ventilated patients
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• High-flow nasal cannula and nasal cannula oxygen support
• Chest tube management
• Non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions and PPE
• Wound care and wound vac care
• CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, and total joint replacement care

Patient Diagnoses

• A-fib RVR
• Hyperglycemia
• Hypertension requiring drips
• Heparin drip

Additional Notes

• RTO after booking is not allowed
• Locals are accepted
• Navy scrubs required
• Candidate must be available for interview within the next 72 hours
