Description

ICU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Start/end timing: Unit will accept 13 weeks or longer, through 2/27 end date

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips
  • Experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols
  • Experience with blood product administration
  • Experience with central line care and management
  • Experience with PICC line management
  • Experience with heparin protocols
  • Experience with CVA care
  • Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)

Unit Details

  • ICU stepdown setting that runs more like an ICU
  • Strong drip experience is required
  • Target ratio: 1:3–4
  • Floating required as needed to a sister ICU unit
  • Every other weekend required
  • No block scheduling

Patient Population

  • Adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Common diagnoses include post-rapid-response patients, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, post-op GYN/GU/GI/thoracotomy/neuro/ortho cases, and pre/post OB patients with complications

Additional Notes

  • 12-hour nights
  • 36 or 48 hours may be offered
  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Navy, white, or a combination of the two scrubs are required
