Description

Behavioral Health Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Helena, Montana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide nursing care primarily to children and adolescents with behavioral health needs, including suicidal ideations, ADHD, and spectrum disorders.
  • Work in a 24/7, 82-bed children's hospital setting.
  • Night shift schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM to 6:30 AM).
  • Every other weekend required.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Charting performed in Epic.
  • Locals accepted at travel rate.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Montana.
  • Pediatric Behavioral Health experience within the last year.
  • Behavioral Health experience.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Milieu management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification preferred; facility will provide training if not currently held.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver's License or State ID).
  • Background checks within 1 year, including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start.
  • Physical exam within the last 12 months.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or T-Spot) within 1 year or chest X-ray within 5 years if previously positive. Annual TB questionnaire if applicable.
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
  • Signed acknowledgment of facility safety manual and Joint Commission training (updated annually).
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to orientation (approx. 8-12 hours).
  • Two professional references within 3 years.
  • Skills checklist required.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable.

Additional Information

  • Facility operates 24/7.
  • Population served is primarily pediatric behavioral health patients.
  • No prior travel experience required.
