Description

ICU Registered Nurse

Location

  • Battle Creek, Michigan

Assignment Details

  • Travel/contract role
  • 26-week assignment
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours
  • 36 hours per week
  • Holidays are required
  • No RTO in the first 2 weeks
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required to other ICU and Med Surg units as needed
  • First-time travelers are accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Michigan
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • Med Surg experience
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS

Unit Overview

  • Mixed ICU and PCU patient population
  • Typical patient ratios range from 1:1 to 4:1 depending on acuity
  • Ventilated patients are typically 2:1
  • High-acuity patients such as cooling, CRRT, or similar cases are 1:1

Common Clinical Experience

  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Chronic and acute renal failure care, including CVVHD/CRRT
  • Arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Continuous IV sedation and vasoactive/cardiac drip titration
  • Stroke/CVA management
  • Ventilator and respiratory support management, including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, ABGs, and suctioning

Procedures and Equipment

  • CRRT, hemodialysis, arterial line placement, central venous catheter placement, tracheostomy placement, and chest tube placement
  • Cooling machine, Bair Huggers, and massive transfusion support
