Description
Registered Nurse — MS/Tele
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Wilmington, North Carolina
- 13-week contract
- Night shift: 4x12 hours, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
- 48 hours per week
- Floating required
- Weekend requirement: 12–16 per contract
- RTO after booking is not allowed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Key Clinical Skills
- Med/surg and telemetry-remote monitoring
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Rapid response support
- IV insulin protocols
- Blood product administration
- Central line blood draws and PICC management
- Peripheral IV care and starting IVs
- Heparin and PCA management
- Chest tube management
- CPAP/BiPAP and high-flow nasal cannula support
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care and wound vac care
- Colostomy care
- Feeding tube care and management
- Pre/post hemodialysis management
- Phlebotomy
Unit Details
- Target ratio: 1:5–6
- Typical diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fracture
- COVID isolation area on unit
- Stepdown patients are cared for by stepdown staff, not med/surg staff
- Unit orientation: 24 hours
- Hospital orientation occurs during week one and attendance is required each day
Scheduling and Work Expectations
- Scheduling is based on unit needs
- Contract staff may be assigned to storm/hurricane response and may be required to report during a disaster or mass casualty event
- Mid-contract consolidation to a centralized office may occur, and staff may be preassigned to units as needed
