Description

Occupational Therapist

Location

Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

  • Day shift
  • 40 hours per week
  • Primary hours are generally Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • No call required
  • 1 weekend per month required

Setting

  • Acute care inpatient setting
  • May also support rehab patients

Required Qualifications

  • BLS certification
  • Occupational therapy practice must align with South Dakota Occupational Therapy Practice Act and Administrative Rules

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients across a range of diagnoses, including orthopedic, neurological, and general medical conditions
  • Provide individualized occupational therapy treatment
  • Perform treatment interventions, documentation, and team conferences
  • Assess medically complex and medically unstable patients
  • Monitor vital signs and recognize indications and contraindications during treatment
  • Recommend appropriate discharge destinations
  • Manage a fast-paced caseload with frequent prioritization and rescheduling
  • Communicate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team for patient safety, discharge planning, and handoff communication
  • May supervise occupational therapist assistants, aides, and students

Work Environment

  • Average caseload is about 4–5 patients per day
  • Facility has 21 beds
  • Computerized charting is used
  • Orientation includes 1–2 days of documentation training plus additional department-specific training

Dress Code

  • Business casual or polo in Ceil Blue, Khaki, Gray, or Chocolate Brown
  • No jeans

Additional Notes

  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Clinicians must badge in and out
  • If the clinician has previously worked for Sanford Health, there must be an end date at least 6 months before submission
