Schedule

• Night shift
• 3x12 hours
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend coverage every 2nd to 3rd weekend

Assignment Details

• 13-week contract
• Float required to 2 other Med Surg units
• Accepts first-time travelers
• Preferred previous charge experience

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Clinical Setting

• Medical-surgical telemetry unit
• Adult and geriatric patients
• Telemetry monitoring for stable dysrhythmias
• Common patient populations include medical, post-surgical, CVA, diabetes, renal disease, COPD, pneumonia, and cellulitis cases

Skills and Procedures

• Telemetry rhythm interpretation and management
• Rapid response support
• IV insulin protocols
• Colostomy care
• Feeding tube care and management
• Pre/post hemodialysis management
• Blood product administration
• Phlebotomy
• Peripheral and PICC line care
• Starting IVs
• Heparin
• Pre/post neuro surgery care
• Peripheral nerve block catheters
• Total joint replacements
• Surgical drains
• Chest tubes
• Oxygen therapy
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care and wound vac

Equipment and Systems

• Pyxis medication system
• SBAR communication system
• Safe patient handling equipment
• Bladder scanner
