Step Down Nurse

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Ohio
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Ventilator experience
Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

Level 1 or Level 2 experience preferred
Travel experience preferred

Unit / Role Details

Care includes telemetry, drips, and ventilators
Patient population includes COPD, CHF, pneumonia, flu, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-COVID
Trach and BiPAP patients are cared for on the unit
No orally intubated patients on the unit
Target patient ratio is 1:4, with assignments up to 1:5–6

Scheduling / Floating

Available for 36 or 48 hours per week
Traveler floats first at the employer’s discretion
May float to other campuses within the local area
Must be available every other weekend and holiday

Other Notes

Navy blue scrubs
N95 fit testing is required before working on the unit unless PAPR is used
RTO must be requested with the initial submission and is subject to manager approval
