Interventional Radiology RN Contract

Overview

• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Employment type: Contract
• Shift: 10-hour day shifts
• Hours per week: 40
• Setting includes outpatient and inpatient radiology cases, diagnostic imaging, CT and MRI support
• Patient ratio: 1:1

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS
• NIHSS
• ARRT
• IEMA
• Interventional Radiology (3 years of experience)
• Interventional Radiology experience within the last year
• 2 years of scrub experience
• Experience in procedural areas and bedside procedures
• Conscious/moderate sedation experience
• ICU or ER background for trauma patients
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation experience
• Ability to use cardiac wires and catheters
• Strong circulating skills
• Must be able to function as the only nurse when on call
• COVID vaccine required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• First-time traveler accepted only with 5+ years of interventional radiology experience
• Experience with trauma cases
• Experience with taps, peripheral vascular cases, and ports
• Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, safety-oriented unit
• Experience with admission, recovery, and discharge for pre/post cardiac procedure patients

Schedule and Call

• On-call required
• 7-10 call shifts per month
• Call schedule includes 5 days every 3 weeks, 1730-0700
• 45-minute response time
• Weekend rotation is call only
• 1 holiday per contract
• Consecutive call shifts and day shifts may occur

Unit and Work Environment

• Level 1 trauma center
• Level III NICU
• Magnet designation
• Primary stroke center
• Trauma cases make up most of the call volume
• No pediatric patients
• 10-20 procedures per day

Equipment and Technology

• EPIC experience preferred
• Radiant subsystem
• Cupid
• Alaris IV pumps
• Pyxis medication dispensing
• Phillips portable C-arm
• Angiojet, Shockwave, and Penumbra equipment used

Orientation and Training

• 1 week of orientation
• Four 10-hour shifts of training
• EPIC training required before touching patients
