Description
ICU Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract RN role in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift, 3x12 hours
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required as needed to a sister ICU unit
- No block scheduling
- Accepts first-time travelers
- Local candidates accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
- DOU - Direct Observation Unit experience
- Intermediate Care experience
- Telemetry experience
Unit Experience / Skills
- ICU stepdown / PCU / DOU / IMC / stepdown experience
- Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Rapid Response Team support
- IV insulin protocols
- Blood product administration
- Central line, peripheral line, and PICC management
- Heparin protocols
- CVA care
- Chest tubes
- External CPAP/BIPAP
- High-flow nasal cannula
- Nasal cannula
- Non-invasive airway management
- Tracheostomy management
- Isolation precautions
Unit Details
- Ratios: 1:3-4
- Runs more like an ICU
- One pressor drip per patient on unit
- Common drips include Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Neo
- No vents on unit
- Patient population includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
Schedule / Work Expectations
- 12-hour nights
- Schedule is created by the unit
- RTO after booking is not allowed
- Additional RTO or call-offs may result in cancellation and DNR
- Maximum RTO for auto-offer: 7 days
Additional Notes
- Navy, white, or a combination of both scrubs
- Hospital orientation is during week one and attendance is required each day
