Description
PCU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
- Night shift, 3x12 hours
- 36 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Accepts first-time travelers
- Local candidates accepted
- No block scheduling
- RTO after booking is not allowed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips
- Experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Experience with management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with use of Rapid Response Teams
- Experience with IV insulin protocols
- Experience with blood product administration
- Experience with central line care and management
- Experience with PICC line management
- Experience with heparin protocols
- Experience with CVA care
Unit Details
- ICU stepdown unit that runs more like an ICU
- Target ratio: 1:3-4
- Floating required to a sister ICU/CCU-type unit as needed
- Every other weekend required
- 12-hour nights
- Navy, white, or a combination of the two scrubs
Clinical Setting
- Manages post-rapid-response patients, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-op surgical patients
- Cares for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- One pressor drip per patient on the unit
- No vents on the unit
Additional Notes
- Hospital orientation is during the first week, and attendance is required each day
- Bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup are used
- Epic is used on the unit
