Registered Nurse - ICU
Location
- Battle Creek, Michigan
Assignment Details
- Travel/contract role
- Up to 26 weeks
- Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:30
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend
- Floating required to other ICU and Med Surg units
- First-time travelers accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Michigan
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Med Surg experience
Unit Overview
- Mixed ICU/PCU unit
- Typical patient ratios vary by acuity, including 1:1 for high-acuity patients and up to 4:1 for lower-acuity PCU/med-surg status
- Common diagnoses include COPD, encephalopathy, drug overdose, DKA, AKI, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation
- Common procedures include CRRT, hemodialysis, arterial line placement, central venous catheter placement, tracheostomy placement, and chest tube placement
- Ventilator patients are common
Skills Needed
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency response
- IV insulin protocols
- GI surgery care
- Renal failure care, including CVVHD/CRRT
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line and PICC line care
- Starting IVs
- Continuous IV sedation
- Emergency medications
- Procedural sedation administration
- Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Acute stroke management
- BiPAP and CPAP support
- Ventilator management
- High-flow nasal cannula
- ABG interpretation
- ETT and NT suctioning
Scheduling Notes
- Holiday coverage is required
- No RTO in the first two weeks of the assignment
- All RTO must be submitted before offer; post-offer requests must be reviewed with the on-site manager
