Job Overview

• Location: Potsdam, New York
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Hours: 36 per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure issued by American Heart Association
• CRT
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Skills / Experience Needed

• Adult critical care and emergency department respiratory care
• Airway management, suctioning, extubation, tracheostomy care, and pulmonary hygiene
• Aerosol therapy and inhaled medication delivery
• Noninvasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen support
• Mechanical ventilation weaning and troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
• Arterial blood gas interpretation

Unit / Work Setting

• 24/7 in-house respiratory therapy department
• May cover ICU, ER, med-surg, pediatrics, and newborn stabilization
• May work alone or with another therapist
• Primarily adult patient population, but must be comfortable caring for newborns and pediatric patients
• May occasionally perform EKGs after hours in support of cardiology
• May be asked to care for COVID-19 patients
• Must be able to work independently and adapt to changing conditions
