Radiology Technologist Contract Job

Overview

• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Employment type: Contractor
• Hours per week: 40
• Shift: Rotating schedule; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiology Technologist license in Illinois
• Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
• 2 years of Radiology Technologist experience
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS
• ARRT

Clinical Setting

• Supports an orthopedic clinic within a multispecialty clinic
• General x-ray work includes extremities, chest, head, and spine
• Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics
• Some patients may need assistance with positioning and mobility

Work Expectations

• Must be comfortable with orthopedic patients and varying degrees of mobility
• Must be able to work independently and be self-directed
• Experience with the listed patient types is required

Department Details

• 2 X-ray rooms
• Average daily volume: 50–70 patients
• No portables, fluoro, or OR cases
• 1 other rad tech on site
• Patient service representatives available
• Management is not on site every day but is available by phone
• Site manager present
• Medical assistant from the orthopedic clinic transfers patients down; rad techs transfer back if needed
• Panic buttons are available in the room
• No code team; emergency response is to call 911

Technology

• EPIC is preferred
• PACS: GE Centricity
• Equipment includes GE overhead X-ray and DelMedical floor-mounted unit

Floating

• May float to another orthopedic clinic 4 miles south of the primary site
• Float assignments are given at least 1 day in advance

Scheduling and Policies

• Weekend rotation as needed
• No on-call requirement
• No holiday expectations
• Time-off requests must go through the manager
• If calling out sick, must notify at least 2 hours before the shift starts

Orientation

• NEO orientation
• Remainder of the first week is orientation

• Scrubs may be any professional color without logos
