Description

ER Registered Nurse

Location

  • Iron Mountain, Michigan

Contract

  • 13 weeks
  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour night shifts

Required Qualifications

  • Active Michigan RN license in hand
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC
  • 2 years of emergency department experience

Clinical Setting

  • Emergency department with 14 beds and 2 trauma bays
  • Trauma Level IV
  • Does not receive STEMI or stroke patients; those patients are sent out
  • Fast Track available with 3 designated rooms
  • Separate triage area with 2 rooms
  • Average census is 40–60 patients per day
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3–4 during the day, with higher ratios at night
  • 24/7 ED physician coverage
  • 24/7 respiratory therapy support
  • 24/7 phlebotomy
  • No monitor techs; nurses read their own strips
  • X-ray is down the hall and available 24/7
  • CT is nearby

Duties and Workflow

  • Travelers may triage after reviewing and understanding facility policies and procedures
  • RN takes an assignment, including charge nurse coverage
  • Floating may be required to inpatient areas for helping hands
  • Computer-based training plus 2 days of floor orientation

Scheduling and Expectations

  • Manager builds the schedule
  • Weekend requirement is every other weekend
  • Holiday coverage is required
  • Call is not required, but clinicians may volunteer to go home without pay
  • Must clock in and out at the facility

Additional Notes

  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Duo placements are accepted
  • Candidates living within 80 miles are considered local rate candidates
  • Any solid-color, clean, professional scrubs are allowed
