Description
Registered Nurse — Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum
Location
- Charlotte, North Carolina
Contract
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- Night shift, 3x12 hours: 18:45–07:15
Unit Overview
- LDRP unit with low-risk obstetric patients
- May occasionally float, but not frequently
- Call may be required if census is low
- Weekend shifts required: 8 per contract
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- 2 years of Post Partum experience
- Post Partum experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
- EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
- Ability to circulate in the operating room
- Antepartum care including sterile speculum exam, NST, OCT, reflex checks, edema assessment, clonus assessment, and sterile vaginal exam
- Triage of obstetrical patients
- External and internal fetal monitoring
- IUPC (intrauterine pressure catheter) use
- Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Administration of blood and blood products
- Anticoagulant administration
- Insulin drip administration
- Magnesium sulfate therapy

- AWHONN Advanced
- Triage experience

- Telemetry
- Circulating in the OR for C-sections
- PACU recovery
- Fetal monitoring
- Neonatal care in the delivery room
- Newborn care
- Postpartum care
- Surgical procedures including cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
Orientation
- 24 hours total
- Hospital orientation plus 2 unit shifts
- Must be available for classes each day
