RN (Registered Nurse)

Schedule
- Nights
- 12-hour shifts
- Weekend work required: 2 out of 3 weekends
- Weekend shifts are Friday/Saturday/Sunday, 7:00a–7:30p or 7:00p–7:30a
- Scheduling options mentioned: weekend-only contract or night contract
Unit / Setting
- OB triage
- Labor & delivery
- Postpartum
- Well-newborn and special care nursery
- GYN surgical patients
- May float to General Medical if OB census is low
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience interpreting fetal monitor strips
- Experience with attendance at vaginal delivery, immediate care, and resuscitation of newborns
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
Key Responsibilities
- Care for OB triage, labor & delivery, postpartum, well-newborn, and special care nursery patients
- Provide IVs, antibiotics, and short-term respiratory support such as CPAP or oxygen in the nursery setting
- Work with fetal monitoring and newborn resuscitation needs
Unit Details
- 12-bed unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:2–3 mom/baby couplets
- 1:2 early labor
- 1:1 active labor
- 1:3 post-op
Charting / Equipment
- EPIC charting
- OBIX central monitoring for fetal monitor strips
- Acudose medication dispensing cabinet
Orientation / Training
- 2–3 days of unit orientation, depending on experience
- New hire safety program checklist
- Competency skills training for equipment
- One Chart training
Additional Notes
- Must be able to work across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, not just labor & delivery
- Hospital-washed scrubs are provided
- Badge in and out is required
- Scrub color: navy blue
- Local placements only within 80 miles
- If the clinician has ever worked for Sanford Health, this must be noted in submission, and there must be an end date at least 6 months before submission if previously employed there
