Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location
- Des Moines, Iowa
Schedule
- Nights
- 13-week contract
- Orientation date: 9/28
- Required to work 1–2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed
Setting / Patient Population
- Progressive care unit
- 25-bed unit
- Cares for heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic patients
- RN ratio: 1:5–6
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Iowa
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- One completed travel assignment in the previous 12 months
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Driver's License
- Orthopedic care experience
- Heparin drip experience
- PCA (patient-controlled analgesia) drip experience
- 3% Sodium/Na drip experience
- Telemetry monitoring experience
- Neurosurgery experience
- Orthopedic Surgery experience
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Qualifications
- Trauma care experience
- Trauma Level I experience
- De-escalation certification accepted: CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA
- NIHSS, which can be obtained during onboarding
Clinical Skills / Equipment
- Heparin, PCA, and 3% sodium drips
- Telemetry
- Chest tubes
- Airvo
- Left equipment
Additional Notes
- Must float across all campuses
- No local candidates within 50 miles of the facility
- Navy blue scrubs required
