Description
Emergency Department Registered Nurse
Overview
- Contract role
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour night shift
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- ED - Emergency Department (3 years of experience)
- ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
- 1 year or more of total travel experience
- BLS
- ACLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Preferred Qualifications
- PALS
- EPIC experience
Clinical Setting
- 24-bed emergency department
- Average of 115 patients per day
- No trauma designation
- Teaching hospital
- Patient population includes neonates through geriatrics
- Common cases include minor trauma, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, respiratory issues, shortness of breath, cardiac issues, chest pain, neurologic issues, and altered mental status
- Travelers are not expected to work triage
Skills
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Strong IV skills
- Basic emergency department knowledge of drips and medication administration
- EKG acquisition
Schedule
- Every other weekend
- No on-call
- Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved
- Schedule is made in 6-week increments
- No self-scheduling
- Block scheduling is not available
- Shift start times vary by requisition
Orientation
- Facility and unit orientation included
- A few hours with an educator for access and modules
- 1 to 2 shifts on the unit
Additional Details
- No floating
- Navy blue scrubs
- Free parking in designated areas
- No artificial fingernails or extenders during direct patient care
- Natural nail tips must be less than 1/2 inch long
