Sonographer - Acute Care

Job Overview

  • Specialty: Diagnostic Imaging
  • Location: Bozeman, Montana
  • Employment type: Contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM on Thursday; 9:00 PM–9:30 AM on Saturday and Sunday
  • Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

  • ARDMS certification in at least one category: OB/Gyn or Abdomen/Small Parts
  • ARDMS certification in at least one advanced category: Fetal Echocardiography, Breast, Pediatrics, Registered Vascular Technology, or Musculoskeletal; or 10 years of experience in advanced ultrasound practice with a commitment to obtain advanced registry
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
  • Ultrasound Technologist experience within the last year
  • Must live at least 90 miles away from the facility

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • Regular and sustained attendance is required
  • May require work beyond a standard 40-hour week, including weekends and after-hours shifts
  • On-call work may be required

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasound exams and procedures in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Assist physicians and other medical staff during exams and procedures
  • Complete documentation needed for interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams
  • Retrieve and review prior studies, reports, written orders, and related health information
  • Support quality indicator implementation, monitoring, and improvement

Work Environment

  • Primarily independent work in a highly complex acute care inpatient setting
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, medications, infectious diseases, and emotionally challenging situations

Physical Requirements

  • Repeated lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent standing, walking, twisting/bending/stooping/kneeling, reaching above shoulder level, and pushing/pulling
  • Continuous fine-finger movements, vision use, and cognitive demands
