Description
PCU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in New Brunswick, New Jersey
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Care of ventilated patients
- Tracheostomy patient care and management
- IV therapy: access/manage ports, administer blood products, central/PICC/peripheral line care and management, start/maintain IVs, phlebotomy
- BiPAP/CPAP management
- Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Non-invasive airway management
- Feeding tube care and management
- Pre- and post-hemodialysis management
- Renal failure care
- Experience with Epic
Clinical Skills
- IV therapy, including ports, blood products, central/PICC/peripheral line care, IV starts/maintenance, and phlebotomy
- Respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patient care, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care/management
- GU/renal care including feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure
- Medication management including heparin protocols, cardiac drips without titration, PCA, procedural sedation monitoring, and IV insulin protocols
- Dysrhythmia interpretation/management, telemetry monitoring, and isolation precautions/PPE
Scheduling and Work Expectations
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays, depending on unit needs
- Must float within skillset without exception
Charting
- EPIC experience required
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers accepted with 2+ years of PCU experience
- Locals accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
