Location
Hilo, Hawaii
Contract Length
13 weeks
Schedule
- Variable 5–8 hour shifts, 40 hours per week
- Five days per week, including weekends
- Typical shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- No guarantee of hours or shift preference
Required Qualifications
- Valid Hawaii RDN - Registered Dietitian Nutritionist license
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential
- 1 year of RDN - Registered Dietitian Nutritionist experience within the last year
- At least 1 year of clinical nutrition experience
- Experience with nutrition assessment for pediatric through geriatric patients
- Experience with medical nutrition therapy in acute care, long-term care, and critical care
- Ability to estimate caloric, protein, and fluid needs
- Experience with nutrition support, including parenteral and enteral nutrition
- Experience with nutrition education
- Experience with food service management
- Ability to chart in electronic medical records
- Ability to develop and update nutrition care plans
- Experience with Minimum Data Sets
Responsibilities
- Correct menus and make menu changes for kitchen staff
- Serve as a resource for food service management and kitchen staff regarding diet and nutrition support clarification and patient satisfaction
- Review patient assessment requests
- Interview patients and perform nutrition assessments
- Make nutrition recommendations as needed
- Follow up with physician consults
- Provide nutrition education
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and ICU rounds
- Collaborate with food service and medical staff to support patient care
Work Setting
- Based in the food and nutrition services department
- Provides nutrition and dietetic services across multiple hospital units, including medical, surgical/pediatric, progressive care, OB, intensive care, long-term care, and psychiatric units
- One day per month, services are also provided at a long-term care facility
Additional Notes
- Must arrive the Thursday before start for an employee health appointment on Friday
- Travel expenses and time for monthly off-site service are the traveler’s/agency’s responsibility
- Business/professional dress; lab coats are optional
