Description

Neuro Surgical Room

Overview

  • Contract role in a surgical room setting.
  • 13-week contract, 40 hours per week.
  • 8-hour day shift.

Required Qualifications

  • Surgical Technologist (2 years of experience)
  • Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS
  • Spine surgery experience including laminectomies, ALIFs, fusions, and discectomies
  • Cranial surgery experience including tumors, AVMs/aneurysms, VP shunts, subdural, and EVDs
  • ENT surgery experience including neck dissections with flaps, sinus surgery, basic ENT, and tympanoplasty
  • Medtronic navigation system experience for cranial and spine procedures
  • Medtronic Stealth navigation experience for ENT procedures
  • Stryker navigation experience for cranial procedures
  • Synaptive navigation experience for cranial procedures

Preferred Experience

  • AVMs/Aneurysms are not required.
  • Cochlear cases are not required.

Clinical Experience / Case Mix

  • Neuro/ENT cases, including:
    • Spine surgeries: Laminectomies, ALIFs, Fusions, Discectomies
    • Cranial surgeries: Tumors, VP shunts, Subdural, EVDs
    • ENT: Neck dissections with flaps, Sinus Surgery with Stealth Navigation, Basic ENT (Tonsils), Tympanoplasty
  • Orthopedic cases, including:
    • Fractures, Anterior Hips, Total Joints, Ortho Spine, Hand/Podiatry
  • General cases, including:
    • Breasts/Plastics, Vascular, Laparoscopic, General Oncology, Genitourinary (GU), Gynecology (GYN), Robots (XI)

Unit Details

  • OR Beds: 21
  • Patient ratio: 1:1
  • Level III Trauma Center
  • Level III NICU
  • Magnet Designation
  • Primary Stroke Center
  • Beds: 636

Support and Equipment

  • Support on the unit includes Charge Nurse, Leads, Supervisors, and Manager.
  • Charting/system equipment includes EPIC, Alaris, and Pyxis.
  • Navigation systems used include Medtronic, Medtronic Stealth, Stryker, and Synaptive Navigation.
  • Hanna Table is used for orthopedic cases.

Floating

  • Cross trained to General Main OR specialty and Urology center.
  • Does not float to other hospitals/sites.

Scheduling and Call

  • Days have variable start times between 5:30 AM and 7:00 AM.
  • Weekend rotation is not applicable.
  • On-call response time is 30 minutes.
  • Call schedule is 8 weeks and may change based on staffing needs.
  • Call coverage includes General/Neuro/Ortho, with AMS and PMs call slots and weekend call.

Other Details

  • Surgical scrubs are provided by the hospital.
  • Free parking is available, with shuttle service to and from the parking structure.
  • No call rooms are available.
