Description
OB Acute RN
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length
- 15 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- Shift as assigned
- Every 3rd weekend
- Every other holiday
- No call requirement
Unit / Setting
- OB Acute/Post Partum RN
- 9 LDR procedure rooms
- 2 OR suites for C-sections
- 1 PACU
- 6 L&D triage rooms
- 18-bed antepartum unit
- 36 postpartum private rooms
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- NRP
- Required assessments
- Care of the post-partum patient
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Must be able to work with insulin or heparin titration orders
- Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels
Preferred
- ACLS
- Lactation education/support experience
- Level 2 Nursery experience
Clinical Details
- Common patients: postpartum moms and newborn infants
- AWHONN ratio: 1 to 3
- Charge RN is on duty 24/7
- PCTs assist primarily with adult patients
- Labor hospitalist is in house 24/7
- Newborn hospitalists are in house daily, with NICU coverage at night for emergencies
- RNs are not required to read or interpret telemetry strips
- Home CPAP or BiPAP may need to be handled if the patient has it
Floating
- May float within the Family Birthing Center
- May float to Behavioral Health
- May float to Women’s Care Unit
- May float to L&D to assist in recoveries, general support, and sitter patients if AWHONN monitor trained
Orientation
- 2 full 12-hour shifts on OB Acute
- 1 day in L&D
- 1 day in WCU
