Description
Surg Room
Overview
- Contract role in Nursing Administration
- 13-week contract
- 8hr Day Shift, 40 hours per week
- 12 beds
- 1:1 patient ratio
- First-time traveler accepted with 2 years of experience
Unit / Setting
- Surgical room in a Level 1 Trauma Center
- Patient population includes toddler through geriatrics, inpatient and outpatient
- No cardiac or transplants
- Cases include trauma, neuro, GYN, ENT, plastics, ophthalmology, podiatry, vascular, robotics, and urology
- No deliveries unless it is an emergency
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS
- CST
- Experience with trauma cases
- Experience with neuro cases
- Experience with total joints (hips/knees)
- Experience with craniotomies
- Experience with spinal fusion
- Ability to circulate and scrub cases as RN
- Anesthesia Technician experience
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS
- Toddler experience
- Level 1 trauma experience
- RN can scrub
- Robotics experience for CST
Skills / Case Experience
- Trauma
- Neuro
- Total joints (hips/knees)
- Craniotomies
- Spinal fusion
- CSTs scrub cases, especially Eyes, Ortho (total joints specifically), and Spine
- Anesthesia tech duties include equipment setup, assisting with intubations, glide scope experience, TEE probe experience, reprocessing TEE probes, stocking supplies, and room turnover
Support / Workflow
- Charge nurse usually has no patient assignment
- Transport team, CRNA, Radiology, and OR leadership support the unit
- Floating: none
Scheduling / Logistics
- No weekend rotation
- No call for agency staff
- Time off requires approval
- Holiday work is expected if scheduled
- Orientation is typically about 1 week, depending on experience
- No hospital orientation
- Procedural scrubs are provided
- Free parking
