Description

MS/Tele Float

Overview

  • Travel/contract RN assignment in Wilmington, North Carolina
  • 13-week contract
  • Night shift: 4x12 hours, 18:45–7:15
  • 48 hours per week
  • Unit is an ED holding support position located in the float pool
  • Patients are in the Emergency Department waiting for an inpatient bed; traveler may take PCU-level patients
  • Travelers are expected to take MS/Tele cases and float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed
  • Target ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU-level patients
  • Every other weekend required
  • Navy scrubs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • 2 years of float experience
  • Float experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ED - Emergency Department experience
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Must be able to work with adult medical/surgical diagnoses, including MS/Tele and PCU-level patients
  • Must be able to float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed

Unit Details

  • ED Holding unit
  • EDIP inpatient holding area located within the Emergency Department
  • Standard equipment includes cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other monitoring systems
  • Medication/documentation/communication systems: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR
  • Manager schedules
  • Unit orientation: 12 hours

Additional Notes

  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team coverage
  • Contract staff may be required to report during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster
  • Consolidation to a centralized office mid-contract may occur
  • Candidates will be interviewed due to high turnover and mixed high-acuity patient population
