Description
Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel assignment in Newburgh, Indiana
- 13-week contract
- 12-hour day shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48-hour contracts upon request
- No local candidates within a 40-mile radius
Required Qualifications
- Current active compact license
- AHA BLS
- AHA ACLS
- NIHSS
- 2 years of strong cardiac/tele experience
- 1 travel assignment
- Trauma level II experience
- Recent EPIC experience required
- Must pass tele tests
Unit Details
- Cardiac Renal Unit
- 34 beds
- Patient ratio: Days 1:4-5; nights 1:6-7
Clinical Focus
- Post cardiac procedures such as heart cath, ablation, and pacemaker
- A-fib RVR, ESRD, CHF, sepsis
- Tracheostomies, nephrostomy tubes, CBI, renal biopsy
- Behavioral health/detox
Skills
- Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
- Recover heart caths
- PIV insertion
- Chest tube and indwelling drain management
- Drip management
- CBI
- Detox/CIWA protocol experience
- Central line care
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
Schedule and Float
- Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
- Every other holiday
- First to float within skillset
- May float to Deaconess Midtown campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson
- 2-hour notice for cross-campus float
- Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible
Additional Notes
- Clinical interview
- Bi-weekly orientation
- Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
- Navy blue scrubs
