Cath Lab Tech
Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Roanoke, Virginia
- Day shift: 4x10s, 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Up to 26 weeks available by request
Required Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Virginia
- Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
- 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ARRT (R) or CCI RCIS
- Experience with Epic
- Skilled in cardiac cath lab procedures, including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip
- Dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Experience in diagnostic/interventional cath lab settings using fluoro
- Sterile technique, EKG lead placement, rapid response protocols, isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
- Must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when called
- Must be available to work/take call one holiday per 13-week contract
- Does not accept first-time travelers
- Does not accept locals

- ARRT(R) Virginia state license preferred
Unit Details
- Adult patient population
- 6 procedure rooms
- Daily census of 15–20
- Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale closures
- Advanced procedures include TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips, renal denervation, and research protocols
- Equipment includes IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
Scheduling and Call
- Each clinician is expected to take 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts within every 6-week period
- One full weekend of call (Friday through Sunday) must be scheduled together
- Remaining weekday call shifts (Monday through Thursday) can be taken individually throughout the cycle
- One Saturday shift for elective cases is also required during each 6-week period
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Additional Notes
- The hospital is an acute care teaching hospital with over 700 licensed beds
- It is a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, and a certified stroke center
- The cath lab has American College of Cardiology accreditation for PCI procedures
