Polysomno Technologist

Overview

  • Location: Normal, Illinois
  • Schedule: Nights, rotating 4x10s
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant sleep lab experience
  • Polysomnographer experience within the last year
  • Associate's degree in polysomnographic technology or completion of a certificate program in polysomnographic technology
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or Registered Sleep Technologist

Role Summary

  • Provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including in-center and home sleep apnea testing (HSAT), diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and patient care
  • Provides sleep-related education and support to patients and families
  • May provide general oversight of other sleep center staff

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews and verifies departmental orders, insurance/prior authorization, patient history, and medical necessity for testing
  • Prepares patients for testing, including PAP interface fitting, desensitization, and education
  • Performs and documents sleep testing, ancillary testing, calibrations, and data quality monitoring
  • Scores sleep/wake stages and clinical events using professionally accepted guidelines
  • Performs equipment cleaning and disinfection and follows infection and quality control procedures
  • Follows procedural protocols for MSLT and MWT
  • Supports quality and performance improvement initiatives
  • Communicates professionally and maintains effective working relationships
