Description
Med Tele RN
Role Summary
- Med Tele RN in Iron Mountain, Michigan
- 24-bed inpatient unit with up to 10 observation/day surgery patients
Required Qualifications
- BLS
- 1 year experience in MS/MS-Tele experience (Acute Care experience)
- Must be comfortable with IV starts
- Must be able to float to like units and patients
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS
- Experience or knowledge of TURPS-CBI
- Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 experience
Unit Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 on day shift, 6:1 at 11pm
- LPNs work until 11pm; team nursing with LPNs uses 2:7 ratios
- Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, and day surgical cases such as Ortho (hips and knees), choles, appys, and TURPS-CBI
- Small pediatric population (3/year) is not given to the traveler unless prior experience or no other options
- No IV team onsite
- RT oversees the entire hospital
- Tele/monitoring is done in ICU daily; basic tele arrhythmia knowledge is needed
- Charge nurse works with an assignment; travelers could be placed as relief charge
- Nurse aides are on the unit
- Hospitalist or intensivist is in house until 6pm daily, then telemed is used
- RT is available 24/7
- RT equipment includes CPAP
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 0700-1900 and 1900-0700
- Weekend rotation every other weekend, Friday through Sunday
- 2 of 3 holidays
- Call or standby may be required
- Self-scheduling is attempted when possible, but blocking cannot be guaranteed
Orientation
- Day 1: 8 hours of computer education and 4 hours of shadowing
- Day 2: 12-hour orientation shift
- Day 3: independent
Other Notes
- Solid professional attire; no specific scrub color
- Local candidates within 80 miles are subject to reduced client rates
- Must note in submission if the clinician has ever worked for Marshfield; if previously worked there, the end date must be at least 6 months before submission
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
