Description
Pediatric Behavioral Health RN
Overview
- Travel/contract RN role in Seattle, Washington
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
- 36 hours per week
- 1:1 ratio
- First-timers accepted
- Every other weekend
- Potential on-call
- Potential float within scope to meet facility needs
- Locals accepted
- Guaranteed hours
Unit / Setting
- Pediatric acute psychiatric crisis unit treating children ages 4–17
- Primary model of care for RNs, with typical assignment of 1:6
- RNs may also be assigned 1:1 or to milieu support as needed
- Patients may have chronic medical comorbidities and nursing needs including diabetes, epilepsy, refeeding, cast care, and wound care
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Pediatric Behavioral Health experience with at least 2 years of experience
- Pediatric Behavioral Health experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Ability to initiate and perform physical holds
- Ability to perform mechanical restraint
- Ability to perform seclusion
- De-escalation techniques for managing disruptive behaviors
- Therapeutic communication skills
Certifications
- BLS
- PALS
Preferred
- Limited pediatric background or behavioral health experience may be considered
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: any color or T-shirt top, age appropriate and kid friendly
- Charting: EPIC
- Teaching, Magnet, and Level I Trauma facility
