Description
Hospice RN
Overview
- Travel/contract hospice RN assignment in Vienna, West Virginia
- Day shift: 5x8 hours, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Home visits with periodic office meetings
- Territory includes Wood County
- Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
Responsibilities
- Provides and coordinates home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies
- Uses the nursing process to direct care
- Supervises and evaluates Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses
- Typical caseload is 5-8 patients per day
- Productivity expectation is 30 points per week
- Types of cases include start of care, wound care, and follow-up visits
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- Hospice (1 year of experience)
- Hospice experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in Supervisory roles
- Driver's License
- Home Health experience
- Experience with Homecare Homebase
- Experience with OASIS
Preferred Qualifications

Charting / Documentation
- HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) proficiency within the last 6 months
- OASIS proficiency required for RNs
Schedule / On-call
- Weekend requirement varies by location and profession
- On-call requirement varies by location and profession
- Some positions in the western territory may use a Baylor schedule of 4x10s, Friday through Monday
- Most assignments use standard 5x8s Monday through Friday
Assignment Notes
- No guaranteed hours
- If patient census is low, the contractor may be floated to a nearby clinic to pick up hours
- Open requisitions and staff out on maternity leave are creating the need for the contractor
Additional Requirements
- Scrubs
- Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate
- Travel is compensated from patient home to patient home
- Commute to the first and last patient is not billable
