Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Med/Surg 2 (Illinois, Peoria)
Position Overview
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in providing and managing patient care through the nursing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote evidence-based practice through nursing protocols and procedures.
- Assess patient status via interview, observation, and physical assessment.
- Develop individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
- Implement interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes.
- Continuously evaluate and document patient progress throughout the shift.
- Modify care plans based on ongoing evaluation.
- Complete required documentation including patient charts and event reports.
- Demonstrate professional accountability and pursue continuing self-development.
- Maintain technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot issues.
- Acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing.
- Support professional development of self and team members.
- Share clinical knowledge and provide teaching based on learning needs.
- Apply practical problem-solving for patient moving and handling; promote safety using lift equipment.
- Obtain lab specimens and perform bedside lab testing with quality control.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary patient care and collaborate with team members.
- Analyze clinical situations systematically and seek resources to meet patient needs.
- Recognize when to seek assistance and utilize resources promptly.
- Manage non-complex and some complex patient assignments with turnover.
- Prioritize work based on patient condition changes and interruptions.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and provide goal-focused shift reports.
- Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary.
- Use effective communication and teamwork strategies to promote high team performance and optimal patient outcomes.
- Adapt teaching strategies to patient/family age, readiness, and comprehension.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of applicable nursing experience.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
- Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browsing).
- Multicultural sensitivity.
- Critical thinking and independent judgment skills.
- Education: ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing).
- Licensure: Illinois state RN license in good standing.
- Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association).
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
- No preferred certifications specified.
