Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Med/Surg 2 (Illinois, Peoria)

Position Overview

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will provide and manage patient care using professional nursing knowledge and skills. This role involves applying the nursing process to promote evidence-based practice and achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient status through interviews, observation, and physical assessments.
• Develop individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Implement appropriate interventions to meet expected patient outcomes.
• Continuously evaluate and document patient progress throughout the shift.
• Modify care plans based on ongoing evaluations.
• Complete required documentation including patient charts and event reports.
• Demonstrate professional accountability and pursue continuing self-development.
• Maintain technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot issues.
• Promote professional development of self and team members.
• Share clinical knowledge and provide teaching based on learning needs.
• Apply practical problem-solving for patient moving and handling; use lift equipment safely.
• Obtain and perform bedside lab testing and quality control as per orders and policies.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and collaborate with team members.
• Analyze clinical situations systematically and seek resources or correct problems.
• Recognize when to seek assistance and utilize resources promptly.
• Manage non-complex and some complex patient assignments with turnover.
• Prioritize work based on patient condition changes and interruptions.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and provide goal-focused shift reports.
• Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary.
• Use effective communication and teamwork strategies to enhance team performance and patient outcomes.
• Adapt teaching strategies to patient/family age, readiness, and comprehension.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of applicable nursing experience.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
• Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browsing).
• Multicultural sensitivity.
• Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills.
• Education: ASN required.
• Licensure: Illinois state RN license in good standing.
• Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association).

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN degree (preferred but not required).
