Cardiac Sonographer - Travel Position

Location: Austin, Minnesota
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Travel

Job Summary

Perform complete echocardiographic studies using all cardiac echo imaging modalities to obtain comprehensive patient data. Document patient and exam information accurately using Echo Information Management System and other computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform comprehensive echocardiograms using critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborate with Lead and Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Echocardiographers, Physicians, and team members to assist in interpreting echocardiographic findings.
• Assist in orientation, training, and education of trainees, students, and visitors in Cardiovascular Services.
• Participate in stress lab and stress echo lab procedures, outreach, on-call duties, weekends, evenings, and holiday coverage as needed.
• Be available for 24-hour on-call with a 30-minute response time.
• Provide quality care across all patient age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.
• Demonstrate flexibility in learning all equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures.
• Understand and follow sterile procedures, isolation precautions, and safety measures to avoid exposure to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments.
• Demonstrate proficiency in required competencies.
• Physical requirements include frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulder level, and occasional twisting and turning.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
• Must have good hearing and visual acuity.

13 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

• Ability to work effectively with co-workers, physicians, and healthcare professionals at all levels.
• Knowledge of cardiac pathophysiology, diagnostic procedures, and patient care procedures.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Minimum 1 year of cardiac sonography experience preferred.
• Experience in adult and pediatric cardiac sonography, including transesophageal and stress echo.
• Experience with outreach services is helpful.
• Registry eligible.

Education Requirements

• Associate’s degree OR
• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program.

Certifications & Licensure

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
