Registered Nurse - Endoscopy Surgery

Job Description

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will provide and manage patient care using professional nursing knowledge and skills. Responsibilities include:

• Conducting thorough patient assessments and developing individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Implementing appropriate interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes.
• Continuously evaluating and documenting patient progress throughout the shift, modifying care plans based on evidence-based practice.
• Performing patient interviews and physical assessments, adjusting care as patient conditions change.
• Completing all required documentation, including patient charts and event reports.
• Demonstrating professional accountability and pursuing ongoing self-development.
• Operating and troubleshooting medical equipment as needed.
• Maintaining current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice.
• Promoting professional development of self and team members through informal teaching and responding to learning needs.
• Applying practical problem-solving skills related to patient moving and handling, including safe use of lift equipment.
• Obtaining lab specimens and performing bedside lab testing with quality control in compliance with orders and policies.
• Coordinating interdisciplinary patient care and collaborating with team members to utilize resources effectively.
• Prioritizing work based on patient condition changes, assignment shifts, and interruptions.
• Delegating tasks appropriately and providing goal-focused shift reports.
• Advocating for patients with physicians when necessary.
• Utilizing effective communication and teamwork strategies to promote high team performance and optimal patient outcomes.
• Adhering to assigned weekly, weekend, and holiday call shifts per hospital policies.
• Selecting teaching strategies appropriate to the patient’s or family’s age-specific needs.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of applicable nursing experience.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
• Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browsing).
• Multicultural sensitivity.
• Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills.

Education & Licensure

• Required Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Illinois State RN license in good standing
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from American Heart Association
